I guess “Teddy” is a popular name for therapy dogs, yesterday I added a post about a service dog named Teddy helping veterans here in the states, today’s post is a photo of a therapy dog named Teddy helping troops overseas. It’s amazing how much value they bring just being around. Photo credit is Capt. Stephanie Vanneman, June 29th, 2011-Task Force 44 medical Brigade

Maj. Susan Snow, the 528 Combat Stress Control Detachment Commander, congratulates Maj. Timmy on his promotion as his handler, Capt. Christine Beck looks on. Timmy is the therapy dog at the Freedom Restoration Center on Bagram Airbase. He also celebrated his third birthday

My Name is Ronald D. Logosso, Jr. I was the gentleman who raised Timmy from 11 Weeks Old when I volunteered with The Guide Dog Foundation in Smithtown, NY. I am very proud of the work he is doing overseas and all of the people he is helping. While I may never get the chance to see him again – I am very greatful/thankful for my time with him. I would like to also take time out to thank all of our soldiers for their efforts and want to say – that Timmy is there to assist in their missions. Congratulations Major Timmy, I am very proud of your work and still smiling. By the way – Happy Birthday as well!

Dear Mr. Logosso:
Thank you for your huge sacrifice in the giving of this dog so he may continue to give to others. Timmy is a beauty and I’m sure you must miss him very much. I’ve worked with the Seeing Eye program with 4H when my children were young. We’ve rescued 7 Labs over the years and presently have 2 yellows we’ve rescued from Labs4Rescue. Cloe is a Certified Therapy Dog. I am a Special Ed Teacher and her handler. I enjoy working with autistic students, especially those who have a fear of animals. I’m hoping to retire in a few years and be able to do more dog therapy doing the day. Please send my best to Maj. Snow for her good work and happy birthday to Maj. Timmy!!
Sincerely,
Jean Geronimo & Cloe
